Holiday Memories at SteadyRain

‘Tis the season for holiday parties, shopping in busy stores, baking up a storm, and possibly wishing for a white Christmas. Often times, we get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle that we need a little reminder as to why this holiday season is so special. So we sought out to do just that!

We asked the SteadyRain team what are some of their most favorite holiday memories. Here are a few traditions and holiday memories around the SteadyRain team households:

I’m obsessed with watching the 24 hour marathon of A Christmas Story. My parents and I have it on all day long on Christmas.

-Amy Weitlauf, Vice President of Operations

Definitely The Grinch. A must watch around my house.

-Eric Baggett, Director of Online Marketing/Senior Internet Strategist

When I was a kid, my parents, sister and I would sit down together in the family room and read the story of Jesus’ birth from the Bible. After reading the story, we would sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jesus, and then we would all load up in the car, drive to town, and look at all the Christmas lights that we could find. They were always very adamant about making sure that my sister and I understood where the holiday comes from and what it means, but also wanted us to enjoy the festivities of the season. Sometimes there’d be caroling, or a Christmas party to go to, but we always drove around to see the lights, and made sure we kept the focus of the holiday.

Can’t get enough of White Christmas. My entire family watches it together on Christmas day. When we were younger, my cousins and I weren’t too thrilled when grandma turned it on, but now, with four generations sitting together, I can’t wait to watch it!

-Ann Ehnert, Marketing Coordinator

We enjoy visiting JellyStone Park, which displays Santa’s Magical Kingdom, by Six Flags. It’s always a good time!

-Joe Marcallini, Vice President of Internet Strategy

I loved the movie Prancer when I was little, so much so I wrote a very long letter telling Santa the only thing I wanted for Christmas was to meet Prancer just this once and I wouldn’t ask for any presents for the rest of my life! Christmas Eve night, my dad went up on the roof and stomped around, I was waiting for Santa to invite me up to the roof but obviously that never happened. I woke up Christmas morning and ran outside looking for a sign of Prancer…not a trace, but under the tree I found a scroll letter addressed to me hand scripted by Santa himself telling me how much Prancer enjoyed the cookies I made him and how he will never forget me and sends his love. That was enough to light up my face for every Christmas thereafter.

-Kristi Bright, Graphic Designer

Watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation with the family.

-Brian Barks, Senior Project Manager, IC

I had the pleasure of seeing one my favorite bands, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a few years back for a concert in December. I didn’t expect it to be a Christmas show and when they rolled out their cover of Mr. Heat Miser from A Year Without a Santa Claus I knew I’d travel to the end of the earth to see another one of their Christmas shows.
