St. Louis based Internet strategy, web development and online marketing agency, SteadyRain, announces the launch of an innovative knowledge management tool with Nestlé Purina PetCare, which focuses on account team members’ working with their customers on identifying growth opportunities. These opportunities are uncovered with powerful diagnostic tools that recommend the most effective merchandising and sales tactics, matching specific client situational criteria within the system. The goal is to unlock and maximize those client opportunities through knowledge sharing across the global organization.
Headquartered in St. Louis, Nestlé Purina requested SteadyRain’s expert knowledge in a comprehensive consulting engagement where SteadyRain outlined details for the knowledge management tool and data integration. The system serves as a compliment to Nestlé Purina’s current Intranet, showcasing the most highly effective global best practices as well as best practices for individual sales regions within the organization. These best practices are proven to improve retailer success with pet care shoppers.
The knowledge management solution is a global initiative, including users in all of the organizations’ sales regions to include North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Oceana and Africa. The tool links all Nestlé Purina PetCare market development managers, account managers, and sales staff to a centralized system, which will distribute information, allow collaboration, and provide a central repository for this strategic knowledge.
The primary objective for the platform is usability. This goal is achieved by minimizing search time and introducing a suggestive search engine within a global central system. The search quickly provides recommendations based on specific criteria and provides both web-based and downloadable reports, the rank of each best practice, and specific examples of those practices being implemented.
“We are excited to partner with Nestlé Purina PetCare on such an innovative and forward-thinking knowledge distribution and management solution for their employees,” said Thompson Knox, Executive Vice President at SteadyRain. “Working with Nestlé Purina to deploy the solution globally is even more exciting. We’re honored Nestlé Purina selected our user interface design and development team for such a critical initiative. We have worked hard to ensure the knowledge management system becomes an active, exploratory experience for its users. Better yet, we’ve been able to effectively gamify the knowledge-seeking experience of their account teams making the experience actively exploratory and not passively uninteresting.”
One special function within this tool is the social integration. A Nestlé Purina team member will have the ability to signal favorite or preferred best practices by “liking” select practices within the system as well as submit comments, which will be accessible across the account teams. This functionality helps provide support and lend credibility to specific insights within the system. It will also allow users to contribute to the ongoing development and communication of global best thinking.
SteadyRain previously partnered with a separate division of the company, which referred SteadyRain to the GSBU to lead the current initiative. The internal knowledge management tool was the first project with Nestlé Purina PetCare’s Global Strategic Business Unit.
